When I did mine (pearl version), I went far left and even went for a U-turn on the house below Barry's, made a small circle before talking to Barry again and then offset my character so Barry's sole movement can advance the frames to an even number. Of course if you've got the same frames needed with Jelome you can just copy his. Now, after the scene is where you can experiment your movements. This makes a consistent frame advancement just so you can see whether you've hit the right delay by checking over the fat guy's movements. The next step would be mapping out your character's own movement since you can't exactly know how many frames you've advanced without a chatot.įor this one i just took the shortest route to Barry's house and then made a quicksave there. Or you could just note the fat guy's movements on the target delay to be just done with it, that also works. What I did was make a quicksave on a couple of delays near my target and note down the "fat guy movements". It's important to make the save in your house because the only way you can see whether you've hit the right delay is using the fat guy so keep that in mind. You would have to make a "fat guy" map of your own if you don't. Try testing this in an emulator first if you're not as opposed to using them, especially if you're not using the same seed as jelome is. While I suggest to just breed your starter, I also know the joy of the challenge of getting a shiny starter from the start so: There will also be a couple of frame jumps when you talk to Barry as he moves before talking to you. The moving npcs after getting out of the house to bump into Barry (when you try to get into his house) and then meet him outside of the town advances the frames so much that you'll almost always miss it even if you've got the right target seed and delay. The hardest part was getting the right frames after you get out of the house after acquiring your tid and sid. So it is do-able but requires a lot of patience. I followed this platinum guide part 1 and part 2 when I rng-ed mine in a retail pearl.
